What is life balance?
I have been thinking a lot about life balance, and even whether it is possible to attain it. And if it is, how do we keep it?
There are a lot of things which make up life balance – we traditionally think of home/work life balance. But what about balancing leisure, exercise, friends, family, volunteering, caring, earning money etc etc?
We need to get some basics right for good health, to achieve the balance – a bedrock of nutrition, fluid intake, exercise, and sleep. But all the other elements we need to balance are not in “perfect balance”, because some are more important to us than others. And this importance we attach to them will change at different seasons of our life.
So, life balance needs balance! It needs constant reassessment, and I’d argue that it needs to be done daily at times. It helps to spend time considering what is important in life, and whether your personal balance is right.
